StableSecretary Feature: Wasatch Sport Horses

Nestled in the scenic surroundings of Eagle, Idaho, is Wasatch Sport Horses (WSH), an equine enterprise owned and operated by the dynamic duo of Stephanie Goodman and Joshua Sylce. The decision to establish the farm was determined by three core objectives. Firstly, Stephanie and Joshua wanted to foster a supportive environment for like-minded individuals to share in the equestrian experience. Secondly, to provide a professional space for those committed to making the discipline of eventing, training, and top horse care their life’s work. Lastly, to provide Stephanie a means to compete at the top eventing levels. She desires to ride and train to the 5 star level, however she knows she cannot afford to pursue these dreams without her own barn and support, which led her to where she is today, owning WSH.

Over the next five years, the vision includes creating an environment where trainers and barn employees earn a consistent living wage with insurance, with access to continuing education. On a personal level, as previously mentioned, Stephanie aspires to ride at the 5 star level while simultaneously managing the farm and coaching. The ultimate goal is to establish a profitable, reliable, and reputable business, offering riders a safe, motivating, and nurturing space to elevate their skills.

Meet the Trainers:

At Wasatch Sport Horses, the team of four trainers contributes diverse backgrounds and strengths to the operation.

Hilary Haskins:

Hilary’s affinity for horses began practically at birth, and she has been a dedicated equestrian throughout her life. Growing up in Idaho, she possesses a remarkable natural balance, confidence, and feel on a horse. What sets Hilary apart is not only her natural talents but also her unmatched work ethic, a relentless drive to learn and teach, and an extraordinary ability to give. Her commitment is unwavering, and she never shies away from a challenge.

Jayne Fife:

Another Idaho native, Jayne Fife, began on her equestrian journey with a solid foundation from local trainers. She delved into eventing, participated in Pony Club, and explored the world of Off-Track Thoroughbreds (OTTBs). After a stint in New York City for schooling, Jayne found herself at WSH for lessons, eventually joining the team. Starting as a young woman handling various barn duties, she evolved into a multifaceted professional. Jayne’s journey involved extensive travel, countless lessons, and active involvement in horse training. Today, she is a trainer from whom others, including Stephanie, glean valuable insights.

Brittany Olsen:

Brittany Olsen, a recent full-time addition to the WSH family, has been an integral part of the community for years. Her early life was dedicated to eventing in the Pacific Northwest, turning professional at a young age. A temporary hiatus from riding and coaching due to an unfortunate accident redirected her journey towards education, marriage, and raising two wonderful children. Brittany, with a passion for pole work and precise position, exudes kindness and calmness that resonates with those around her. Currently working towards her ECP certifications, she brings a wealth of experience and passion to the farm.

Kim Anderson:

Originally a school teacher, amateur dressage rider, and mother, Kim Anderson relocated to Idaho. Known for her thirst for knowledge, dedication to doing things right, and a genuine desire to share her experiences, Kim quickly found her place in the WSH family. Persuaded to teach dressage lessons at the farm, she thrives on helping others discover balance and joy in the intricate world of dressage.

StableSecretary- A Vital Tool:

In 2018, Stephanie stumbled upon StableSecretary through a promotion by the USEA, initiating a game-changing chapter in the management of their equestrian enterprise. Unbeknownst to them, this discovery would change the way their operation, spanning 35 horses, four barns, and trainers traveling from Florida to California, handled crucial paperwork and communication. StableSecretary undoubtedly was the ideal solution, providing the flexibility for everyone involved — employees, owners, and vets — to access and update crucial information from any location. This shift not only streamlined communication but also allowed the entire team to contribute to maintaining up-to-date records, a huge asset during frequent travels.

The entire team relies on StableSecretary for information sharing, billing, and payroll management. Its user-friendly interface and accessibility from anywhere have proven invaluable, particularly during travels. As StableSecretary continues to evolve, the team eagerly awaits enhanced search options and improved integration for a seamless experience in managing their horses, riders, and services.

The journey with Stable Secretary has been transformative, empowering the entire team and facilitating the realization of the farm’s vision. As they move into the future, the combination of the dedicated team, the farm’s goals, and the support of StableSecretary positions them for continued success and growth in the dynamic world of equestrian excellence.
