Nestled in the serene landscapes of Canton, Georgia, lies a 21-stall barn, on 65 acres of lush countryside. Here, a dedicated team of equestrians prioritizes the health and well-being of their cherished horses above all else. Their journey with StableSecretary began in the summer of 2023, inspired by recommendations from neighboring barns. Little did they know, this decision would revolutionize their approach to horse management.
As the founder and driving force behind our barn, Heather Steinman’s journey in the equestrian world began at the age of six. Starting as a junior rider in Dressage, she progressed through the ranks up to fourth level, and competed up to the Preliminary level in eventing. Along the way, she achieved the rank of a B pony clubber before transitioning her focus to the Hunter/Jumper discipline.
Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of learning from some of the most esteemed professionals in the industry. Training under the guidance of professionals including George Morris, Frank Madden, Chris Kappler, Ronnie and Bert Mutch, Hilda Gurney, and Joe Fargis has been instrumental in shaping her skills and perspective. Additionally, her former years as a junior included a valuable stint at Valhalla Farm in Lake City, Florida, where she honed my abilities in working with and starting young horses.
Having this wealth of experience and expertise, Steinman eventually embarked on her own entrepreneurial journey, establishing HMS Stables. Today, Heather is proud to lead a team dedicated to excellence in horse care and training, fueled by a deep-rooted commitment to the timeless values of horsemanship.
Beyond their dedication to excellence in horse management, the team takes pride in fostering a warm and inclusive community within their facility. From expansive outdoor rings to covered arenas and scenic trails, their property offers the perfect setting for riders of all levels to pursue their passions. Esther, the miniature donkey mascot, adds charm and character to the environment, captivating visitors with her sweet and spirited demeanor. Additionally, neighboring our facility is Isabel, a charming camel, who shares her space with llamas and mini ponies. These creatures can often be spotted observing our lessons with great interest, adding an enchanting ambiance to our farm.
Reflecting on their journey, the team celebrates achievements both in and out of the arena. From mentoring aspiring equestrians to earning accolades such as the Sunny Stevens Style of Riding award, their commitment to the sport’s values remains unwavering. Looking ahead, their focus remains on nurturing the next generation of horses and riders, who will carry on their legacy and compete at the highest levels of the sport.
