Q: Can you tell us a little about yourself and your stable?
Lauren: I’m based at Ms Mars’ High Acre Farm in Middleburg, VA in the summer, and her Meredyth South in Ocala, FL in the summers. I was horse addicted since I was a little kid and got riding lessons for my sixth birthday. Producing and watching young horses progress to their full potential keeps me inspired.

Q: How many horses are currently in your stable and who makes up your “team”?
Lauren: We have about 15 competition horses. My team is made up of headgroom Shannon Kinsley, and Jenn Cain, Lauren Mair is my Barn manager, Kim Cecere is my assistant trainer, and Caitlin O’Roark is our working student.

Q: What are some words of wisdom for training to become an Olympian?
Lauren: The slower you go, the faster you will get there. Don’t skip steps. When in doubt, always go back to the basics.

Q: What is your favorite event?
Lauren: That’s a tough one, in the US it would have to be Kentucky, and then overseas it’s a tie between Aachen and Boekelo.

Q: What has been the top challenge in managing a barn. How has Stable Secretary made your life easier?
Lauren: The biggest challenge is just making sure you know everything going on with all the horses, especially when they are split up with traveling and competing and sometimes in different countries. It’s an absolute necessity to have a staff you can trust, which I have. Stable Secretary is a huge part of that – having the ability to have all the horses information at your fingertips no matter where you are is invaluable.
Q: What is one of your favorite features of Stable Secretary?
Lauren: Being able to easily input and treatments or therapies that the horses receive makes it so much easier to keep track of.
Q: Give me one word that describes your stable life after becoming a Stable Secretary subscriber?
Lauren: Much more organized and coordinated.
Q: Do you think equestrians are more open these days to exploring how technology will help improve the health and performance of their horse? You have a great website and are very active on social, have you seen an increase in followers and young riders being more engaged via social?
Lauren: Yes, I think for my generation we did have to catch up a bit to the social media side of things, at least I was slow to start, but now I find it to be the best way to engage with my fans and audience and keep people along for the ride so to speak.
